Applying conditioner on your hair helps to keep it moisturised and smooth. However, too much of something is never a good thing. When you apply it all over, it can actually weigh your hair down and cause oily roots. Hence, when you do use a conditioner, make sure to apply it just from the mid-shaft to ends.
2. Baby Powder
Baby powder can actually be used as a substitute for
dry shampoo. It works the same way if you sprinkle
some on your roots and then rub it in. For those who have darker hair, resulting in the baby powder causing too much of a white cast, just brush some bronzer onto your roots instead or mix the baby powder with cocoa.
3. Dry Shampoo
Using a dry shampoo will not only suck up oil from your roots making your hair appear less greasy in the moment, but it will also enable you to spend more time between washes. This will effectively make your hair less greasy in the long run too.
4. Washing Less Often
Yes, you read that right. It might sound like the total opposite of what you should do, but it actually does help. By washing your hair too often, your scalp will constantly get stripped of oils. When this occurs, the scalp will forcefully try to replace those oils. In turn, this makes hair greasier in the shorter term than necessary.
This can be quite a tricky part. When you do not brush enough, it keeps the natural oils from being distributed. This will result in them just building up on the scalp. On the other hand, over-brushing, can stimulate oil production. Therefore, make sure you find a healthy balance for your hair when brushing it.
6. Styling Products
It is highly recommended to avoid using too many
mousses and gels that can lead to build-up. Also try not to
use styling products that has an ability to make your hair “shiny”. These sort of products tend to make oily-prone hair just look even greasier. If it is possible, just cut out styling products altogether.
7. No Touching
Our fingertips and face both produce oil that can easily be transferred to your hair. Therefore, it would be best to not touch your hair with your hands and avoid having hairstyles that touches your face.
8. Avoid Straighteners
The closer your hair comes to contact with your head, the more oil it will come in contact with. Curled hair, regardless whether it is natural or not, gives a little more volume at the roots. This helps to keep hair from becoming too oily too quickly.
